Report on the Temporary Results of the Lepidoptera List of Africa Continent based upon the Databank of the Cesa stand 27.7.2007

Within the frame of the Cesa Projects , entitled Diversity of the Lepidoptera in the World (DLW) and Lepidoptera of Africa (LAF) , synonymous list of the species and subspecies, recorded in the Continent Africa, has been arranged by the authors for this report, by using the information of the Databank of the Cesa. The temporary results are reported herewith for the first time. Totally 18385 valid taxa (14519 species and 3866 subspecies) in Africa, are listed alphabetically under the related families. Synonymous names are also added to each species in chronological order. Nomenclaturally unavailable names marked with #. Number of the Lepidopteran species recorded in various regions of Africa are also discussed.
